Carmine bee-eater

As horrible weather has kept me captive of the indoors I decided to try my hand (after a long time) at one of my old passions - Sketching. Sadly all I could find last night as I sat down was one Black pen. Nonetheless I had a go at a Carmine bee-eater (Merops nubicus) from photographs of the species I had take a few months ago at the Rotterdam Zoo.

Here it is .......
Here are some of the snaps.

Completely fell in love with the colours on these beauties.
These birds have a range including most the Northern Sub-saharan regions of Africa.
Though quiet small the Aviary at the Rotterdam Zoo has some great birds and offers great photo ops.

Logo-Trials

Here's three logos I designed for the Malabar Natural History Society for the upcoming All India Butterfly Meet that they are organizing at the Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary near Kannur in Kerala.

(Sadly since I had to leave for Europe to pursue my further studies I couldn't attend the Butterfly Meet and nor did I get the time to follow up on these logos so that they could be used)

The Great Mumbai Bird Race

An amazing event called - the Great Mumbai Bird Race - was organized in Mumbai for all birding enthusiasts in the city. It was a great event which involved teams of fours traveling thru different parts of the city covering different habitats in a quest to identify the maximum no. of species from sunrise to sunset.

The above image is of the Official logo of the race, which I had designed.
